Mahjong (麻雀) is a mahjong game developed and published by Nintendo. It was released for the Family Computer on August 27, 1983. It is the 5th game to release on Famicom, and the second mahjong game on a home console, releasing a month after Sega's version for the SG-1000. The game runs a variant of riichi mahjong, though due to technical limitations it is only 2 player (something fixed in Nintendo's later 4 Nin Uchi Mahjong). Mahjong was the 8th best selling Famicom game, selling over 2 million units. The game also received a very limited NES release in Hong Kong.
