Banpresto was a Japanese video game and toy company, founded by Yasushi Matsusa as Hoei Sangyo in 1977. Hoei Sangyo reorganized into Coreland Technology in the early 80's as it moved into video games. Facing financial difficulty at the end of the 80's, Bandai bought a majority stake in the company and reorganized it into Banpresto. In 2008, Banpresto was absorbed into the games division of the recently formed Bandai Namco. Banpresto was a very prolific publisher for the Super Famicom, publishing over 50 games for the system. Although, very few of those were developed in house.
