Retail NES consoles cannot play prototype cartridges
- This is false. Many prototype cartridges have been documented to run perfectly on unmodified retail hardware. This includes the NES prototype of SimCity.
The NES released on July 15, 1983 in Japan
- Nintendo released the Family Computer on July 15, 1983 in Japan. The NES first released on October 18, 1985 in New York as a test launch before rolling out nationwide in 1986. The NES would never see a release in Japan.
