why

Is this page really necessary? is there any information that could be added here that wouldn't be better served by just a link to his wikipedia page? --Randomcat2000 (talk) 00:59, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

There's a few fragments from the early days of the wiki still kinda hanging around. The conception I've been given is that, generally, we would like to document people that had any sort of influence on the history of topics within the Scope. However, admittedly, we do kinda have like James Rolfe and stinkin Hitler so I dunno if there's like a consensus that will have to established. Aux (talk) 01:17, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
Somewhere, lines have to be drawn. Did the Clinton Cat really have any influence on the history of the super famicom? theres more information on random youtubers than there is on hugely influential games like Xevious. I think an article needs to have a certain amount of unique information relating to the famicom/super famicom to be worth having on the wiki.
Compare Takahashi Meijin to Kenji Sagara. takahashi was not only in multiple games, he had a career working at a major game company and wrote a column about famicom games in corocoro. while his article here doesnt have much info, his effect on the history of the famicom is indisputable and there is plenty more that can be added to his article. things wouldnt quite be the same without him.
Meanwhile, kenji sagara is a footnote in his own game. he had no relation to the famicom before or since. the article here mentions the game he stars in, and why he stars in it. there is no more information that could be added to that page that is within scope. all the relevant information in kenji sagara's article can easily just be part of the game page, wouldn't even need a separate section for it.
I propose the Sagara rule: significant game designers, developers, or businessmen get their own articles. Commentators (youtubers, tv show presenters) get a page for their main show (for example, i doubt james rolfe has done anything within scope other than avgn, doubly so for scott. i dont really like the yter pages to begin with tbh). misc celebrities with a tie in game should just be mentioned in the game article. anyone that falls outside of that should be pretty easy to figure out. --Randomcat2000 (talk) 04:42, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
