Virtual Console

Virtual Console is a defunct line of downloadable legacy software titles for the Wii, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U. The service first launched alongside the Wii Shop Channel on November 19, 2006. The Virtual Console releases included Family Computer, Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Famicom, and Super Nintendo Entertainment System software run via software emulation. Virtual Console would be discontinued on the Wii on January 30, 2019 with the closure of the Wii Shop Channel and Virtual Console on 3DS and Wii U was discontinued on March 27, 2023 with the closure of the eShop on their respective platforms.
